High Cliff Connection Trail 

Overview

Trail Strategies has been the part-time trail coordinator for the trail since 2023. A Master Plan was completed in 2022 for the 10-mile regional multi-jurisdictional trail. The proposed trail reaches from the Miron Trestle Bridge to High Cliff State Park.

Clients: Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Menasha, Harrison, and Sherwood

Location: Calumet County from Appleton- Sherwood.

Dates: 2023- present

Highlights 
  • (6) successful DOT and DNR grant applications: feasibility studies, design and construction totaling $1.494 million.
  • Serving as WisDOT admin support for WisDOT grants.
  • Multi-jurisdictional funding support of the project.
  • (1) segment completed, (2) segments currently under design.

The River Trail  

Overview

Trail Strategies has assisted the Great Headwaters Trail Foundation in the development of the proposed 10-mile River Trail in Vilas County. Trail Strategies was originally brought in to help reinvigorate the project facing hurdles with multi-jurisdictional boundaries, property acquistion, funding, and general support.

Clients: Great Headwaters Trail Foundation 

Location: Vilas County from St. Germain – Eagle River.

  • Successful WisDOT grant application for River Trail Ph 1 for 1.3 million.
  • Serving as WisDOT admin support for River Trail Ph 1 grant.
  • Led (2) Project charettes.

Shawano County Mountain Bay State Trail 

Overview

Trail Strategies recently started working with the Great Headwaters Trail Foundation in the development of the proposed 4.5 mile segment of the multi-jurisdictional trail in Shawano County – .owned by the state, located in the town, and maintained by the County.

  • Preliminary concept design review 
  • Project strategization (funding, timing, segmentation)
 

Client: Shawano County Friends of Mountain Bay Trail 

Location: Shawano County – Town of Richfield.

Dates: Spring 2026 – present
